Soccer – Guelph vs McMaster: Season Opener
Tonight was the season opener for the Gryphons mens soccer team, who beat McMaster 1-0. Unfortunately, due to a production meeting, I missed the first half hour or so of the game and with it, the only goal scored. Overall a good game, with lots of roughing on the field between the two teams. Looking forward to the Gryphons football home opener this Saturday which will definitely draw a crowd.
The nice thing about shooting at Varsity Stadium is that there is a hill along the one side of the field to minimize distracting backgrounds.

Unfortunately, play rarely seems to happen there…
McMaster’s goalie has some of the wildest facial expressions when the ball is anywhere near him. This was one of the few times there was actually a close call however.

Gryphon captain Francesco Luzi is tended to by a trainer after being injured.
More facial expressions from the McMaster goal tender (whose name I don’t know because they have no numbers or positions updated on their site yet)

A little bit of rough housing by a Gryphon player…while the headless man tries to figure out why the ref hasn’t blown the whistle.
That’s all for now….
